Australian Blend White wine kit makes 30 bottles of crowd pleasing new world style medium bodied white wine which is great to enjoy with food. This well balanced white winemaking kit is fast fermenting and can be ready to bottle in a round a week.
A hydrometer is used to figure out how much alcohol is in your beer or cider. It measures the density of liquid (called gravity). Alcohol is less dense than sugary pre-fermented beer, so measuring gravity at the beginning of fermentation (at the end of your brew day) and measuring it again two weeks later at the end of fermentation (when you’re ready to bottle) will tell you exactly how much alcohol you have on hand. It’s a great way to let a little science into your otherwise relaxing brew day adventures with a hydrometer.
This is a very simple way to check the alcohol content of your home brew wine but remember – it is very approximate and you need to know how it works to avoid the common pitfalls.
It works on (still) wine only, not beer or spirits.
It will only work if there is no CO2 left in your wine.
It will only work if your wine is 8-13% or around these values
