Rumtopf storage jars

Making your own rum pot is easy and not bound by a strict recipe. Most fruits can be used according to your own imagination : strawberries, cherries, raspberries, black- and redcurrants, apricots, peaches, prunes, grapes, pears, apples, pineapples…etc. A few basic rules :
Use only clean and well-washed fruit that has been left to drip off. Sprinkle 250 gr of sugar/500 gr of fruits on top and leave to soak for 1 hour. Use rum or a neutral alcohol of at least 50 % vol. And make sure there is always 2 cm of  alcohol on top of the fruits. Eventually use a little plate to keep the fruit immersed.  Close your rum pot with a cellophane to avoid evaporation of the alcohol and loss of aroma. 3 months after your last addition, your
delicious rumpot is ready. Cheers !
